Federal cabinet reshuffled; two new ministers sworn-in into office

Rajagriha, 24 August 2025: The federal cabinet headed by Prime Minister Prince Mahir, Prince Shahiraj, today underwent a major reshuffle and re-organization following the resignation of two senior ministers from the cabinet and the addition of two new ministers. Earlier this morning, the Rashtradhyaksh accepted the resignation of Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Development and Coordination, Prince Abhivansh, and Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and Communications and IT Minister Aryasri Maha Sri Uttama Vedant Deka.

Meanwhile, Aryasri Maha Sri Uttama Bhargya Phukan, who until recently served as the Governor of Uttaranchal, has been appointed a Cabinet Minister, while Nida Fatima has been appointed as Deputy Minister. Both ministers are not members of parliament. Foreign Minister Aryasri Maha Sri Uttama Raghav Deka has been designated as Vice Prime Minister and would serve alongside two other vice prime ministers, viz. Her Royal Highness Princess Tanvi and Aryasri Uttama Sri Suryadeva Kapei.

Bhargya Phukan has been assigned the charge as Minister of National Administration, and Natural Resources, Water and Environmental Sustainability, while Nida Fatima has been appointed Deputy Minister of Culture, and Natural Resources, Water and Environmental Sustainability.

The portfolios of a number of ministers were also reshuffled. Prime Minister Prince Mahir gave up his additional charge of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. First Deputy Prime Minister Singhasri Farhan Ahmed, who also holds the charge as Finance Minister will now also hold the charge as Minister of Planning, Development and Coordination. Third Vice Prime Minister Aryasri Uttama Sri Suryadeva Kapei, who is also the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Local Government, will now also serve as the Minister of Federal Territories, a portfolio previously held by Paramsri Uttama Sri Ezekiel Edensore.

Natural Resources, Water and Environmental Sustainability Minister Aryasri Maha Sri Uttama Praneet Singh has been assigned the portfolio as Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and retains his earlier role as Second Minister of Home Affairs. Youth and Sports Minister Paramsri Maha Shrestha Vikrant Deka has been appointed Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Social Affairs and Community Development. Federal Territories Minister Paramsri Uttama Sri Ezekiel Edensore is the new Minister of Justice and Human Rights, and also retains his role as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Defence.

Social Affairs and Community Development Minister Paramsri Maha Surya Yasmin Sultana will now be the Minister of Youth and Sports, alongside retaining her role as Deputy Minister of Finance. Sultana has also been assigned the additional role of Deputy Minister of Planning, Development, and Coordination. Meanwhile, Information and Broadcasting Minister Paramsri Maha Sri Uttama Shanvika Roy retains her cabinet role and has been assigned the charge as Deputy Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. She lost her deputy ministerial role in the Home Ministry.

Deputy Minister Razia Sultana has been appointed Minister for Local Government in the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs and Local Government and will also be the Deputy Minister of National Administration. Iftikar Ahmed has been appointed Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs. Parishmita Das has been assigned the charge as Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development, and Health and Sanitation.
