Prime Minister seeks resignation from all ministers; indicates dissolution of cabinet

Rajagriha, 26 July 2022: Prime Minister Farhaz Hazarika has sought for en masse resignation of all his cabinet members asking them to submit their papers by 31 July 2022 indicating the dissolution of the cabinet.

The move comes immediately after the Prime Minister's 30-minute call with Rashtradhyaksh Dhrubajyoti Roy where he informed the supreme head about the recent resignations of the ministers. Earlier, Minister of State Andrew Brotherton announced his resignation in order to seek a temporary hiatus from the politics. In addition, previously two other ministers had tendered their resignation in less than a month. Environment Minister Rey Jr. Mancio resigned on 1 July 2022 and the Senior Minister Prince Abhiraj had been looking after his portfolios as an additional portfolio. Liam Alexander, the External Affairs Minister resigned on 16 July 2022 and Rafe Burfield was appointed as the new external affairs minister.


The mass resignation have been sought from all the ministers as a move to tackle the issue with continued resignation. Almost all ministers are likely to be re-inducted in addition to several new faces. Soon after the prime minister's announcement, National Development and Education Minister Charles Burgardt announced his resignation from the cabinet.


The cabinet rejig is likely scheduled to be held on 31 July or 1 August 2022. Among the likely newer inductees include former Prime Minister Princess Sarala, former Minister Arnab Deka among prominent.
