Intense by-election campaign begins: new faces, same parties

By the Minister of Information and Broadcasting

(ERRATUM) Lorenzo Marquez is part of the GSP, not the NPC. In addition, Rey Jr. Mancio is for Boragaon, while Lord Cooper is for Basistha City.

The by-election campaign for Boragaon and Basistha City constituencies, which are currently vacant, is on, with both the Government and the Opposition releasing their candidate lists and launching their campaigns. Here's a list of who will be facing off per constituency: For Boragaon:

  1. Rey Jr. Mancio (NPC)

  2. Lord Basu (GSP)

For Basistha City:

  1. Lord Cooper of Ottawa (NPC)

  2. Lorenzo Marquez (GSP)

The NPC continues to stand its ground as the party to beat with its campaign focusing on the diversity, dedication and experience of their party. The Minister of Culture, Information and Broadcasting showed his support for his party, especially for Mr. Mancio, who is Filipino like the Minister, noting that he has the "heart and wit to serve".

The GSP remains on their "YOU" branding, standing on their collective approach to governance, and how they are cohesive and strong in their values. They remain the underdog however, as the NPC still has the majority in Parliament.

We'll have to wait and see how the campaign pans out. It's intense and a real fight for the NPC, as the GSP is a real threat to the NPC's dominance. Still, the campaign has only begun.
