The Conference of Rulers, the nation's top decision-making body comprising of the rulers of the states and the Prime Minister met last night following the resignation of Stefan Marius Snagoveanu, the Rajyapal of Basistha. The members attending the meet included Rashtradhyaksh Dhrubajyoti Roy, Deputy Rashtradhyaksh and Rajpramukh of Beltola Tanishkaa Patranabish, Rajpramukh of Uttaranchal Bishnu Chetry, the Princess Regent of Purvanchal Princess Sarala and Prime Minister Farhaz Hazarika. All attending members supported the motion to accept the resignation of the Rajyapal, who is most likely to return to politics.

The members of the Conference of Rulers further approved the repelling of Article 50 of the Constitution of Vishwamitra which grants special provisions for Basistha and allows to establish a direct administration with the Rajyapal (Governor) as the executive head of state. The said article was put to force on 11 September last year following which then outgoing Prime Minister Stefan Marius Snagoveanu was named as the first Rajyapal succeeding His Exalted Highness Mohammad Mridul Amin, the Rajpramukh of Basistha who chose to seek retirement to focus on his medical education.

The Conference of Rulers in its meeting last night approved of the re-establishment of the monarchy in Basistha, with Her Royal Highness Princess Anoushkaa, a former Prime Minister currently serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs in the union cabinet, as the Rajpramukh of Basistha as a successor of Rajyapal Snagoveanu who is all set to take over on 18 March 2022, the date from when the resignation becomes effective. Princess Anoushkaa's nomination for the royal position was made by Rashtradhyaksh Dhrubajyoti Roy, which was later supported by the other members. She has been associated with the nation for a long time having held multiple top positions including that of the President and Vice-President. She became the first Prime Minister following the establishment of the monarchy in June 2020 and remained until January 2021. She later joined the union cabinet as Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Minister.
